The colour for March on Cee’s midweek madness challenge is orange so here are just some of the photographs I have found.
The topic for this weeks bird weekly photo challenge is owls.
I don’t have a lot of these and some you will have seen before.
These pictures where taken at an animal rescue centre at a fundraising event and this birds of prey rescue centre. Although I think they are fabulous birds this was actually a nightmare for me as they really do frighten me most. They actually had one of the smaller owls that you could actually get extremely close to and some people where actually stroking specific owls, I was actually proud that I was ale to actually stand so close to such a large bird.
This next one was a cross-stitch square that I did which I send to a charity where a collection of 12 squares all stitched by different people are sent to a quilter who puts them all together to make a quilt for a child who has a life-limiting illness. These are used at home and some children take them with them during hospital stays so that they have something familiar and comforting with them.
This weeks lens-artist challenge comes from a guest blogger who has given us the topic of labours of love as it was labor day.
Labour of love: (Noun) work done for the sake of ones own enjoyment or of benefit to others rather than for material rewards.
Knitting baby hats for local hospital.
Cross stitching squares to be made into blankets for children with life limiting illness to comfort them especially during hospital visits. I do this for Live quilts UK.
Writing cards and letters to children with life-limiting illness just to bring a smile to their face when needed. Pictures below were from last Christmas when I wrote reindeer letters to a child and then. Wrote a Christmas card to every family and included a handmade Christmas snowflake decoration. I do this for post pals.
So today is world cross-stitch day so it would be wrong of me not to blog about it today so here is my current work in progress, this is a square for Love Quilts UK that I cross-stitch a lot for.
The ones below are a selection of my most recent makes some for Love quilts and some as gifts.
For friendly Friday this week Amanda has asked us to look for sea creatures.
This one is a jellyfish seen when we visited a local ship wreck.
Then for a little bit of a fun sea creature here is my cross-stitch of the clownfish Nemo from Finding Nemo stitched to go to Love quilts UK.
Today is the last day of mine and Mr Hs holiday and it is back to work tomorrow so to get out today for our last walk of the holiday we decided to park further up Marine Drive than we normally would and walk right the way along past the pier and along side the beach.
Once we got to the end after looking at the transpennine poster at the end we turned around to go back.
We walked back towards the pier so that we could walk along it to the cafe at the end for a rest and a drink before heading back along the pier and then the rest of the way along Marine Drive back to the car.
Once back at the caravan there some time to do a little more of my cross stitch square for Love Quilts UK before having to pack the car to head home. My intention was to complete some more of it and to try and crochet some little nests to send over to wildlife centres in Australia for the animals that have been effected by the fires, I think that they deserve some Random acts of crochet kindness at the moment. Hopefully this week they will be some of my aims.
So far this Saturday morning both Mr H and I have both been up early this morning. While Mr H has a little rest I am also having a lazy Saturday morning while I finish off cross-stitching my little zebra foal ready go off to love quilts UK.
It’s nearly there now with just one leg to go and the 2 front hooves. While I am busy sewing little Charlie dog has decided he would keep me company.
It feels so long since I last did a blog this week seems to have been so chaotic that I just didn’t get time to get on and blog. I seem to have spent most of my time making things when not in work. So today’s blog is going to be used towards citysonnets photo a day which today is homemade.
I finally got my picture finished to thank my work colleague for helping me so I wasn’t on my own.
Here is the picture just finished waiting for its frame.
All completed and units frame ready to go to its new home.
Before going onto finish my next cross stitch project for a little change I thought I would have a try at crocheting a Christmas stocking. The colours may not be great and it may not be my best attempt but it was just to try it out ready for Christmas decorations.
My next project is to finish off my Zebra foal ready to go off to Love Quilts UK for the end of the month ready to be made into a quilt.
I am hoping that this won’t take too long as I have another square to get finished before the end of the year.
Well for my last lines and squares of the month for Becky’s October lines and squares I thought I would choose my current cross-stitch work in progress.
This is going to be a gift for a work colleague who has helped me in the last week of the school term and will help me for a week when we go back as I have been on my own.
I love the long lines of backstitch that make up the hair but as well as the long lines each of the stitches are made up of lines as well although I realise that is difficult to see without a close-up.
I just hope that she can tell who it is as it is meant to be her favourite singer.
Can you tell who it is?
Once I have finished this picture then can move onto finishing my next cross stitch square for love quilts UK so that my little zebra foal is completed.
I can’t wait for the next Are you square challenge in January 2020. It will be here before we know it.
Just a short blog today.
This morning started with me trying to complete my lion cross stitch square for love quilts UK so that it could be washed and ironed to be posted off with my other 3 completed squares. Although I thought that I may not manage to finish it off I did.
I also received one of the items that I ordered in order to complete my brothers birthday gift over the weekend.
Once they were all washed and ironed they could then be placed in separate bags with a note of which child’s blanket they are for and then all enveloped together. Here are my 4 finished squares ready to be posted.
Once we had taken the package to the post office me and Mr H decided to have dinner out. We went to our local public house to have a quick bite to eat. As it is national burger day today it only seemed right that I got myself a burger.
