Are you Square? – Favourite Tree

This month Becky’s theme for are you square is tree/trees.

How could I not start this month with anything other than this tree, this has to be be one of my favourite trees and I have posted about it before. It is the Allerton Oak and it is believed to be 1,000 years old. If you want to read a little bit more about it there is some more information in previous blog.

Are you Square? – Bright little dandelions

It has been a while since I posted a blog for are you square but this post is actually for 2 different photo challenges that I enjoy. Firstly for Becky’s are you square which this month is bright, for Cee’s flower of the day.

a common small, bright yellow wildflower that has a lot of long, thin petals arranged in a circular pattern around a round centre.

Are you Square? – A bright light

This month Becky’s theme is bright and with lockdown regulations in the UK being relaxed ever so slightly on Monday maybe this picture is ever so fitting in that we are starting to see the bright light at the end of the tunnel. I love this photograph taken on a walk down the Liverpool loopline, an old railway line that has now been converted into a multi-use path for cyclists and walkers alike.

Are you Square? – Bright statue

This month Becky’s theme is bright so how could I leave this statue out with all of those bright coloured stones. This is the Liverpool mountain that I have plucked out of my archive photographs and it is found in Liverpool’s Royal Albert Dock. It was created by Ugo Rondinone who was inspired by naturally occurring Hoodoos and the art of meditative rock balancing and is 10 metres high.

You cannot get the true size of it in this photograph but I was on my own the day I took this photograph as Mr H was at work, maybe on our next visit to Royal Albert Dock I will either stand beside it or get Mr H to stand beside it so you get an idea of how big it actually is. I still can’t quite get used to calling the Albert Dock Royal Albert Dock as it has just been given royal status (it is a fabulous place with lots of things to visit and I don’t think I have done a proper blog about it so maybe that will be an idea for the future, it is one of those places that you find you don’t visit enough when you live in the city).

The bright blue weekend sky

Today my post is not only for this month bright squares for Becky’s are you square? but as also for Hammand’s weekend skies.

How could I not take a picture of the sky this Easter weekend I just loved how bright a blue it was with just that single cloud in it. It was fun trying to think of what the cloud looked like. I am thinking maybe a little fish or a spaceship on its side. What do you think?

Making the most of the nice weather this weekend while it lasts as the weather report says it is going to change next week.
